The meeting between the Egyptian Minister of tourism & the French Ambassador in Cairo
Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, received, , the French ambassador in Cairo, Estefan Romate, the French cultural advisor, and the director of the French Institute of Oriental Archeology (IFAO), to discuss strengthening means of cooperation between the two countries in the tourism and archaeological sector.
The French ambassador informed the Minister of Tourism that France will resume its tourist trips to the Egyptian coastal cities as of next October.
In terms of archaeological work, the two parties' efforts were discussed in the Egyptian-French cooperation project to develop the Tanis (San Stone) archaeological area and how to raise the efficiency and development of services in the area, in addition to the possibility of holding a number of workshops and training programs for the Ministry’s workers in the field of museums and archaeological sites management. And how to prepare files for registering archaeological sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

 

The Director of the French Institute of Oriental Archeology (IFAO) also informed the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Institute's intention to develop and modernize its library to allow the reception of a greater number of researchers and scholars from the Egyptian archaeologists and restorers.
